Cooperation with the UN International Narcotics Control Board
On December 13-14, 2021, the staff of the Forensic Examinations Center took part in the 3rd online session of the Intergovernmental Meeting on Reporting and Monitoring Standards for International drug Control requirements of Cannabis and Cannabis-Related Substances for Medical and Scientific Purposes, organized by the UN International Narcotics Control Board. The meeting was also attended by representatives of Australia, Canada, China, Germany, Russia, Switzerland and Turkey.
The purpose of the event was to identify common grounds between Member States for harmonizing the requirements of international drug control and reporting on the cultivation, production, use, trade and consumption of cannabis for medical and scientific purposes. Previously, similar meetings were held on March 24, June 30 and July 1, 2021, respectively.
During the meeting, comments and suggestions sent to the UN International Narcotics Control Board by Member States at previous meetings were discussed, and on the basis of these materials, draft reporting and monitoring standards were presented.
As a result of all activities, it was determined that consensus was reached on reporting and monitoring standards after voting on the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) on changing the list status of cannabis and related substances.
