Аn online working meeting was held within the framework of the European Union project

On February 8, 2022, an online working meeting was held within the framework of the European Union project – Central Asia Drug Action Programme(CADAP).

The event was attended by the Head of the Department for monitoring the activities of the Forensic Examinations Center of the Department for the Organization of Forensic Activities of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan Temirbolat Kozhamzharov, Acting Deputy Director of the Forensic Examinations Center Altynai Babykbayeva, chief expert of the Institute of Forensic Examinations in Nur-Sultan Zhumatayeva Gulnar, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Committee on Legal Statistics and Special Accounts of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In the course of the work, the participants noted a growing trend in the spread of new psychoactive substances. Of particular concern is their widespread prevalence among children and adolescents.

At the same time, the work on drug control continues. Thus, according to the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 36 laboratories on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan engaged in the synthesis and sale of new psychoactive substances were liquidated in 2021.

Following the meeting, the participants identified the main problematic issues that the competent authorities face in their activities to prevent the spread of drugs, and outlined possible measures within the framework of CADAP to address the identified needs.
