“Forensic research of new psychoactive substances scientific and practical seminar was held

On June 15-17, 2022, a scientific and practical seminar “Forensic research of new psychoactive substances. Problematic issues in the production of forensic research of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues and precursors” was held.

The seminar was attended by forensic experts of territorial divisions.

During the seminar, reports on the following topics were presented:

– About the relevance of the seminar, its goals and objectives;

– On the establishment of the Department of control, coordination and monitoring of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues and precursors in the Forensic science Centre of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan, its goals and objectives.

Practical classes were held:

– On diagnostic examination of solid and liquid substances;

– According to the study by gas chromatography with a mass spectrometric detector;

– Gas chromatography with flame ionization detector;

– By infrared spectrometry;

– To determine the layers of new psychoactive substances on the objects-carriers;

– On the fragmentation of the structure of substances.

As part of the practical training, on the creation of an external standard method for calculating the concentration of solvents used for the manufacture of new psychoactive substances activity was conducted. A demonstration of sample preparation of objects for further study by gas chromatography and a number of other research methods was carried out.

The problem issues arising during the forensic examination of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues and precursors were discussed.
