Forensic Examinations Centre of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan (hereinafter the Centre) represents the goverment sector of forensic expertise in Kazakhstan.
In accordance with the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated February 3, 2017 No. 34 "On some issues of forensic examination", the Centre was reorganised by merging the Forensic Science and Forensic Medicine Centres.
The task of forensic expertise is to ensure the production of forensic examinations in criminal and civil cases, as well as in administrative offenses cases
Today, the Centre has 19 Forensic Science Institutes (see "Territorial Subdivisions" section), located in large cities and in all regional centres, employing about 2,800 employees, including over 1,000 highly qualified forensic experts.
The Institutes carry out 30 types of forensic examinations in 57 forensic disciplines across traditional, special, chemical and medical areas (see "Types of examinations").
In addition, upon requests from legal entities and individuals, the Centre conducts examinations on contractual basis across 57 disciplines performed by its experts, acting in this case as specialists (see "Paid Services").
Also, the Centre has a Forensic Research Institute, the main function of which is scientific and methodological support of the forensic examination process, professional training, retraining and advanced training of forensic experts (see "Territorial divisions").
